Awards
In its rich history the District Museum in Leszno has been repeatedly honored with the prestigious Izabella Award, awarded by the Wielkopolska Museums Foundation.
These awards covered a wide range of areas of museums – from innovative educational projects to unique exhibitions and conservation of valuable objects. Each of the awards confirms the institution's care for a high cultural level and commitment to popularizing the history and heritage of the region.

On the website of the organizer of the museum competition we read:
IZABELLA is a prestigious competition of the Wielkopolska museum community for the most outstanding museum event of the year. This project,organized by the Wielkopolska Museums Foundation under the constant patronage of the Marshal of the Wielkopolska Region aims to distinguish museum institutions, authors and organizers of the best museum events. The competition is held every yea, and the first winners were selected in 2002. IZABELLA has become a permanent part of the cultural landscape of the region.
The end of the edition takes place during the annual meeting of museum circles in Wielkopolska at the invitation of the Marshal of the Wielkopolska Region. The winners will be announced in May during the celebration of the International Museum Day. The award ceremony is combined with a ceremonial Gala, the main prize of the Grand Prix is a statuette by the Poznań artist-sculptor Kazimierz Rafalik.
