The temporary exhibition "Straight from the kiln. Rural ceramics" is our latest exhibition proposal. We encourage you to learn more about the exhibition and visit the Museum from May 18 to August 11, 2024.
Description and purpose of the exhibition
The exhibition presents ceramics from the ethnographic collections of the District Museum in Leszno. These are various forms of clay, stoneware, faience and porcelain vessels, dating back to the 17th-20th centuries, used in peasant houses and elsewhere. We present products from local workshops, as well as items made in workshops and factories, both Polish and Western. Among the exhibits you can find examples of Pokutian pottery and even from Morocco. We present pottery craftsmanship, the technique of turning on a potter's wheel and the basic stages of the production process. The topic discussed at the exhibition is also the Greater Poland menu, characteristic products and dishes.
Our goal is to popularize knowledge about pottery crafts, folk culture and its ceramic products, as well as the culinary heritage of the region. We hope that it will become a space for discussion about craft production and the advantages of handicraft. Exhibits from the collections of the District Museum in Leszno and the National Museum of Agriculture and Agri-Food Industry in Szreniawa were presented.
