Library

The library collects domestic and foreign publications in the field of history, art, ethnography, Jewish studies, museology and conservation. A large part of the book collection consists of exhibition catalogs and other publications from museums in Poland. In addition to the collection of publications necessary for substantive work, the library has over 400 old prints. Evangelical, Lutheran and Calvinist religious works dominate among them. It consists of editions of songbooks and prayer books, polemical texts and theological treatises. Of particular value are works documenting the activities of local theologians and scholars, as well as noble families (e.g. the Leszczyński and Sułkowski families) and local monasteries.

Important items

Leszno publishing houses from the 19th and the first half of the 20th century constitute an important item in the book collection. The largest collection consists of publications published by Ernst Wilhelm Günther (including the set of "Friend of the People", including "Ziemianin", "Sunday School"). An interesting collection of so-called "Heimatliteratur", published by Oskar Eulitz at the beginning of the 20th century, and being studies on the history of Leszno and Greater Poland. The interwar period best represents the achievements of the Leszczyńska Printing House, in which the selection of local press and occasional publications are noteworthy.

Due to the specificity of southwestern Greater Poland, the library collects works documenting the multicultural and multireligious past of Leszno and the region.
