Winter holidays at the Museum

On the occasion of upcoming winter break 2025, we invite children and their guardians to educational classes at the District Museum in Leszno cordially. The classes will be held according to the schedule below. We also invite organized groups to take advantage of the offer. Then we set meeting dates and times individually.
21.01 and 28.01.2025, 11.00 a.m.
The art of caring for clothes
The care and maintenance of clothes has changed over the years. We didn't always have modern washing machines or steam irons. The latest temporary exhibition entitled "Tales of Old Linen Chest" will be a starting point for a conversation about the types of materials and ways of keeping things in good condition.
It is worth acquiring the skills of caring for clothes from an early age. You will learn how to mend holes in clothes, sew on a button and sort clothes for washing with us.
Conducted by: Magdalena Grybska
22.01 and 29.01.2025, 11.00 a.m.
Carnival secrets. Masks, costumes and traditions
Carnival or zapusty is a period of winter balls, masquerades, processions and games. If you want to learn about the mysterious and often forgotten carnival traditions, we invite you to the Museum. It will be a great opportunity to develop imagination and manual skills, and at the same time a great way to integrate and have fun together. During the classes you will learn where carnival comes from and how it is celebrated around the world and in Poland.
Each participant will make their own, unique carnival mask during the art workshops.
These classes allow you to create something unique that will help you express your individuality and creativity.
Conducted by: Tomasz Rak
23.01 and 31.01.2025, 11.00 a.m.
From thread to tapestries – weaving workshops
During the meeting we will tell the history of weaving, one of the oldest crafts that has accompanied mankind for thousands of years. Participants will learn how fabrics have been created over the centuries and learn basic weaving techniques. During the workshops we will work on weaving frames. We will teach you how to properly prepare your small loom for work. We will explain what weft, warp and shuttle are and show some simple weaving patterns. During the classes, everyone will make a tapestry to take home with them. It will be a lesson in concentration and patience, but also an opportunity to have fun and be satisfied with your skills.
