Curatorial tour of the exhibition about Maria Leszczyńska

We invite you to a curatorial tour of the new temporary exhibition on November 30 (Sunday) at 4:00 PM. The tour will be led by Małgorzata Gniazdowska, art historian.

Who was Maria Leszczyńska? What was the fate of the daughter of the last owner of Leszno, the Leszczyński family? What is truth and what is merely legend? Our latest exhibition, devoted to the extraordinary biography of the Queen of France and youngest daughter of Stanisław Leszczyński, answers these questions.

At the exhibition – thanks to objects from the District Museum in Leszno, the National Museum in Poznań, the Royal Castle in Warsaw – Museum, the District Museum in Toruń and the Polish Academy of Sciences Kórnik Library in Kórnik – we present the life story of Maria Leszczyńska, the longest-reigning queen of France, whose reign lasted 43 years.

Visitors will see portraits of Maria, her parents, and Louis XV, as well as decorative arts objects associated with the queen. A section of the exhibition is also devoted to the legend of Maria Leszczyńska, present in popular culture since the 19th century. We show graphics, publications, and memorabilia illustrating how the queen's figure functioned in the collective imagination.

We invite you to the Museum this Sunday. It is required to buy an entrance ticket. We encourage you to read the visiting regulations.
