„Labirynt świata i raj serca” by Jan Amos Komeński - premiere of the first complete Polish edition

The Museum invites you to a meeting promoting the first complete Polish edition of the book „Labirynt świata i raj serca” by Jan Amos Komeński. The event will take place on March 31 at 5:00 PM at the museum's headquarters at 31 G. Narutowicza Street in Leszno.

„Labirynt świata i raj serca” is the most important work of ancient Czech literature, carrying a universal message about the search for the meaning of life, harmony and spiritual peace. The author – Jan Amos Komeński (1592–1670), the last bishop of the Union of Czech Brethren and an outstanding pedagogue – was associated with Leszno, where he lived in the years 1628–1656. The first edition of the book from 1631 was most likely published in this town.

The new publication is the first complete Polish edition of the work; previous editions took place in 1695 and 1914. The translation was done by Wojciech Marzec, a Bohemian scholar and PhD student at the Jagiellonian University, who also prepared commentaries and analysis of the text.

The edition is richly illustrated with original collages by Czech artist Miroslav Huptych. The Polish-Czech Scientific Society is the honorary patron of the publication. The book is published by the Leszno District Museum.
