Greater Poland remembers its heroes. The local government of the Wielkopolska Region invites you to participate in the unique action "We Hang the Flags", the aim of which is to commemorate jointly the Greater Poland Uprising – one of the most important victorious independence uprisings in the Polish history. As part of the campaign, several thousand Greater Poland Uprising flags will be handed over to residents of the region. This year, flags will also be distributed in the subregions of Poznań, Piła, Leszno, Konin, and Kalisz.

The District Museum is a partner of the event, organized by the Wielkopolska Voivodeship Government in Leszno. In November and December, both institutions invite you to join us in celebrating the regaining of independence and commemorating the Greater Poland Uprising – the victorious uprising that returned Leszno and the region to the Motherland. Through a series of educational activities, exhibitions, and meetings entitled "With an Eagle on the Flag - Toward Freedom," we want to cultivate the memory of our heroes, thus building a sense of patriotism and community.

Event participants will receive a free Greater Poland Uprising flag, which we hope will be displayed on their homes on December 27th, the 107th anniversary of the outbreak of the Greater Poland Uprising. The events will take place on the same day as free admission to the Museum. The number of flags is limited.

Patriotic competition

In December, we will announce a competition on our FB profile, in which we will ask participants to briefly justify why the memory of the heroes of the Greater Poland Uprising is important and why they would like to receive the insurgent flag. The authors of the most interesting statements will receive a flag – regardless of their participation in museum events.
