Opening of a new board exhibition from the "Builders of Leszno" series
We invite you to the next edition of the exhibition series entitled "Builders of Leszno". The first exhibition in the series was dedicated to Hermann Nerger – one of the most outstanding artists working in the city. The second edition presented the achievements of Eduard Stein and Hans Stein – father and son, who were born in Leszno and completed most of their projects here. From 5 May, the third exhibition in the series will be presented, dedicated to the activities of Hermann Müller, whose realizations significantly influenced the development of the city at the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
Since the 70s of the nineteenth century, Leszno has experienced a construction boom. New tenement houses, villas, public buildings and factories were erected. The builders of these buildings were both native Leszno residents and newcomers. Hermann Müller was in the group of the latter. Born in Damerau near Elbląg, the man came to Leszno in 1887 and became permanently associated with this city. The latest board exhibition in the series "The Builders of Leszno" is dedicated to his activities. On 14 boards, you can see the designs of the buildings created by Hermann Müller and their current appearance. The builder erected both residential houses and industrial buildings.
The exhibition, as well as the accompanying catalogue of selected projects, were prepared on the basis of construction documentation collected in the State Archives in Leszno. The curator of the exhibition is an art historian Małgorzata Gniazdowska. During the exhibition, there will also be walks in the footsteps of Hermann Müller in Leszno, allowing you to learn more about his achievements and influence on the architectural landscape of the city.
On May 5, at 1:00 p.m., the opening ceremony of the new exhibition will take place in the District Museum in Leszno at 31 G. Narutowicza Street. See you at the Museum.
