Stories of flowers - Thursday lectures
In the new season we return to the series of open lectures organized at the Museum. This time, the meetings will accompany our latest temporary exhibition "What do flowers talk about?" and will focus on the diverse meanings of plant motifs in culture and art.
Flowers have played an important symbolic and aesthetic role for centuries – they appear in painting, artistic crafts, as well as in folk traditions, rituals and everyday practices. During the lectures, we will look at how plant motifs functioned in various fields of creativity and how their meaning was interpreted in subsequent epochs. The meetings will be led by art historians and an ethnologist from the Museum.
We have prepared four unique meetings that will allow you to look at the topic of flowers from different research perspectives.
