Summary of the project "Living Tradition in South-Western Greater Poland"

We invite you to a meeting summarizing the project "Living tradition in southwestern Greater Poland". The event will be an opportunity to listen to the report of the project coordinator, ethnologist Ewa Tomaszewska, about the individual stages of the project implementation.

Throughout the year, ethnographic research was conducted, interviews with folk artists were recorded, and a website was developed to collect materials and observations on local cultural heritage. The results of the "Local Tradition" competition will also be summarized.

The research and educational project "Living Tradition in South-Western Greater Poland" is devoted to current phenomena originating from or reaching back to the culture of traditional rural communities. Tradition, as understood here, is the intergenerational transmission of values, principles of social life, beliefs and patterns of conduct that build the identity of local communities. The project shows how maintaining elements of tradition in the modern era can support integration, self-identification and social development.

The "Living Tradition in Southwestern Greater Poland" project is implemented by the Leszno District Museum as part of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage's Folk and Traditional Culture program. Co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund – a state-funded special-purpose fund. Co-financed by the Wielkopolska Voivodeship Government.

Where and when?

The meeting will take place on November 12 at 1 p.m. at the District Museum in Leszno, G. Narutowicza Street 31.
