The series of lectures "Heritage. Leszno Jews"

We invite you to a series of meetings "Heritage. Leszno Jews", an event complementing the board exhibition of the same title, which is available in front of the museum building. The meetings will be hosted by Dariusz Czwojdrak, historian and curator of the exhibition. We cordially invite everyone interested in the history of Leszno and the heritage of its Jewish community.


The series will include three lectures:


  • 25 January 2026, 4:00 p.m. – "Jews in Leszno. From where? When? Why?" We will talk about the Jewish settlement in Leszno, the privileges granted to Jews, the internal organization of the Jewish community and the growing importance of the Leszno kahał.
  • February 8, 2026, 4:00 p.m. – "Various faces of Jewish science" We will characterize the concept of Jewish science, referring it to the activities of the Leszno talmudic university and a large circle of Jewish rabbis associated with Leszno.
  • February 22, 2026, 4:00 p.m. – "Jewish Solidarity. Economic skirmishes" We will present the economic potential of Jews in Leszno in the 17th–20th centuries, their disputes with Christian competition and their participation in the marketization of the production of Leszno goods.
