Board exhibition: "The price of freedom. 250th anniversary of the United States of America"
The United States celebrates its 250th anniversary this year. Thanks to the victory over the British army, the American colonists won independence and created a country based on the ideas of freedom and civil rights.
The presented board exhibition presents the most important events of the American Revolution, which shaped the political system and character of the young republic. It tells the story of the people behind the success of the struggle for independence, recalls the key symbols of American identity and shows how one of the most important countries of the modern world was born.
A special place in the exhibition is occupied by heroes associated with Poland: Tadeusz Kosciuszko, Kaziemierz Pulaski and Haym Salomon – a financier and patriot born in Leszno, called the "banker of the American Revolution". It was he who financially supported the government and army of George Washington, playing an important role in the struggle for the independence of the United States.
The exhibition is an opportunity to learn about the fascinating history of the birth of the United States and to recall the contribution of Poles – including Haym Salomon, who came from Leszno – to the creation of American statehood.
