The grand opening of the exhibition "A Community of Gesture 1936–1939. The Silver of the National Defense Fund," from the collection of the National Museum in Poznań, took place at the District Museum in Leszno.

At the exhibition, we present 266 exceptional objects – jewelry, silverware, everyday items, and liturgical vessels – which, between 1936 and 1939, were donated by citizens of the Second Polish Republic to the National Defense Fund. It is a story not only about the objects themselves but, above all, about people of various nationalities, faiths, and social backgrounds who decided to give away their valuables for the defense of the state. Find out more about the exhibition HERE.

During the grand opening, speeches were delivered by Kamila Szymańska, Director of the District Museum in Leszno, Tomasz Łęcki, Director of the National Museum in Poznań, and Renata Sobczak-Jaskulska, Curator at the National Museum in Poznań.

The exhibition can be visited until November 29, 2026, at the District Museum in Leszno, located at 31 Gabriela Narutowicza Street.
