It was a good year!

It was a good year! We finish it with a sense of conscientious work done and satisfied with its results. A lot happened in the Museum: we organized temporary exhibitions, several board and electronic exhibitions, we published publications documenting our scientific, exhibition and educational activities, we met with you at exhibitions, all forms of educational activities, at the Breakfast Markets, the LUFA Festival and showing tourists around Leszno and the district.

It was also a good year for our collections: we enriched the collection with valuable memorabilia depicting the life of Leszno and the surrounding area, as well as unique paintings. We bought, among others, youthful images of Maria Leszczyńska and Louis XV and an atmospheric view of Poznań by Kazimierz Mycielski. We organized two scientific conferences, and the Museum employees took part in several conferences held, among others, in Krakow and Bydgoszcz, sharing the results of their research. Our collections of Polish paintings at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries were admired by visitors to museums in Krakow, Zakopane, Poznań, Dobrzyca and Zamość.

The Conservation Workshop systematically takes care of the state of preservation of our exhibits with full professionalism, but also provides assistance to other museums in Greater Poland. The Digitization and Visualization Laboratory documents exhibits in accordance with applicable standards so that they are also present in the virtual space.

Our "gallery of trophies" has been enriched with another statuette – the Grand Prix in the Competition for the Most Important Museum Event in Greater Poland "Izabella 2023" for the great undertaking of task "Jan Jonston's Encyclopedia - putting the world in order".

We are creating a new Museum – the Museum of Tomorrow. We are already working on the scenarios of permanent exhibitions, which we will make available in the new headquarters. We invite you to join us. Your suggestions and comments are valuable to us – the Museum is our common cause, our common heritage.

We are entering the new year 2025 with hope and awareness of many challenges and hard work. We wish all our friends and guests joyful meetings at the Museum, satisfaction with every day and all the best! Happy new year!

Dr. Kamila Szymańska – director of the District Museum in Leszno
