“Leszno County through Brush, Pen, and Lens” – a new museum publication

The District Museum in Leszno and the Association of Friends of the District Museum in Leszno have jointly prepared a new publication titled "The Leszno County through Brush, Pen, and Lens". The catalogue presents nearly 250 archival images of towns, buildings, and figures associated with the region, all sourced from the Leszno Museum's collections.

The publication features reproductions of paintings, drawings, prints, postcards, and photographs from across the entire Leszno County. They are accompanied by short descriptions and commentaries touching upon the history of the presented places and people. Not all of them are strictly informative – some surprise the reader with a more casual approach to the subject. The aim of the publication is to promote the region and its history, as well as to encourage the discovery and protection of local heritage – both tangible and intangible keepsakes left by previous generations.

The publication was prepared as part of an open competition for the implementation of public tasks in 2026 in the field of culture, art, and the protection of cultural property and national heritage in the Leszno County. The publication was co-financed by the Leszno County, which allocated PLN 10,000 for this purpose. We would also like to thank our patrons for supporting the publication of the book: Werner Kenkel Sp. z o.o., Zakład Wykonawstwa i Obsługi Technicznej Budownictwa „Techbud”, Biuro Handlowe „Togo”, and Ośrodek Hodowli Zarodowej „Garzyn”.

The catalogue was published in a limited run of 300 copies. It will be distributed, among others, to municipal libraries, schools, and cultural centers. The publication will also soon be available in an electronic version on our Museum's website.
