Mickiewicz in the shadow of the Lubin tower
Press release
On August 23, 2026, the Benedictine monastery in Lubiń will host an event dedicated to Adam Mickiewicz and his connections to Greater Poland. Organized by the "Bonum adipisci" – Striving for Good Foundation, the gathering will combine history, literature, and music, while highlighting the tangible memorabilia related to the poet's stay in Lubiń.
One of these is a historical plaque with a bronze image of Mickiewicz based on the portrait by Pierre-Jean David d’Angers. The memento is preserved within the monastery space traditionally linked to the Bard's residence.
At 3:30 PM, there will be a lecture titled "Mickiewicz in Greater Poland" and a presentation of a new edition of Fr. Jozafat Ostrowski OSB's book Mickiewicz in Greater Poland 1831–1832, prepared by Dr. Emilian Prałat. First published in 1932, the publication has been enriched with contemporary photographs of places associated with the poet's stay in Greater Poland.
At 4:30 PM, Michał Konstrat and his Band will perform. The artists will present musical interpretations of Polish Romantic poetry. A special place in their repertoire is held by the works of Mickiewicz, to which their album Crimean Sonnets, among others, was dedicated.
Event program
Following the event, the organizers cordially invite attendees for coffee and refreshments. This public project is co-funded by the Municipality of Krzywiń.
