The District Museum in Leszno is the patron of the VI Festival of Folk Culture "Ignysiowy Laur"

Our Museum is once again the patron of a unique event. The sixth edition of the Folk Culture Festival "Ignysiowy Laur" will take place on June 7-8, 2025 in Śmigiel and Morownica. The event organized by the Association of Folklore Lovers "Żeńcy Wielkopolscy" is a unique celebration of music, tradition and cultural heritage, integrating the communities of folklore lovers from Polish and abroad.

One of the key points of the program will be a meeting with representatives of the Gajdoš Cultural Center in Oravska Polhora (Slovakia), who will present the rich tradition of Slovak bagpipe music on Saturday, June 7 at 6:00 p.m. in the hall of the Cultural Center in Śmigiel. The meeting will be held on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the inscription of this tradition on the UNESCO World List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The festival program will also include, among others:

  • music and dance workshops,
  • Traditional Bagpipe Music Competition,
  • concerts of folk bands from Polish, Greek and Slovak,
  • exhibitions and handicraft fairs,
  • folk dance,
  • Sunday "Picnic with Oskar Kolberg" in Morownica,
  • tasting of regional dishes prepared by the Rural Housewives' Associations.

The festival will feature, among others:

"Evros" (Greece), "Briežok" (Slovakia), "Szamotuły", "Żywczanie", "Żeńcy Wielkopolscy", the "Biskupianie" band, Adam Kaizer's band, the "Kotkowiacy" band, the folk band "Ziele" and young musicians from Greater Poland bagpipe bands.

The organizers and co-organizers of the event include:

National Institute of Rural Heritage and Culture, Śmigiel Commune, Culture Centre in Śmigiel, Primary School in Bronikowo, Foundation "Pluribus Unum", owner of the palace and park complex in Morownica Barthel van Dinther and local communities and institutions. The festival is co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the Wielkopolska Province Self-Government.
